If you are planning to set up home in Portugal our Homeseekers Alentejo services will be of great interest to you:
The Lower Alentejo and in particular the Ourique area has much to offer those seeking to purchase either a home or holiday home in southern Portugal. It is an area of outstanding natural beauty, which makes it a lovely place to live, while the town of Ourique itself offers excellent amenities plus good transport links by road, rail and air.
If you have already bought (or are hoping to buy) property in this area, then Homeseekers-Alentejo can be of service to you.
We have a selection of properties for sale, including both existing houses and land for development.
We can also carry out pre-purchase investigations on your behalf if you have already found a plot of land that you are interested in buying.
If you already own a plot of land, we can assist you through the necessary processes involved in gaining full planning permission.
Once your plans are passed and you have chosen your builder, you need to ensure that the build proceeds according to plan. Through our project monitoring and liaison service you can be assured that someone is on hand who will make regular visits to the site, if you are unable to be here at all times.
When you do wish to visit we can offer you preferential accommodation prices through our frequent visitor discount scheme.
Finally, if you wish to move any personal items out to Portugal prior to your house being completed, or if you wish to have items delivered to a secure address, we have a large storage container in which space may be hired.
Please visit our Homeseeker Services page to read more about Homeseekers-Alentejo and full details of the services we can offer for individuals interested in purchasing or building property in Portugal.
When deciding to buy a new home it is not only the location of the property itself that is important. The availability of nearby services and amenities also has to be considered, especially if you plan to live here permanently.
The town of Ourique is the principal town for the wider municipality of Ourique and is therefore well served in terms of shops and other public amenities. There are 2 large supermarkets and other smaller shops, plus 2 chemists, a post office, several banks, 2 fuel stations, a library, cinema and public indoor swimming pool, as well as a health centre and dentist should you need them.
The police, fire, ambulance and air ambulance services are also stationed in the town as are all the public administrative departments.
Infant, junior and secondary schools are also here.
There are several cafes and good restaurants in and around the town for those who enjoy eating out. In terms of entertainment, the cinema regularly shows the latest international as well as Portuguese films and there is also an outdoor covered arena where live entertainment and local fairs and festivals can be enjoyed.
Everything, in fact, that you might need in your day to day living, can be found in Ourique.
Ourique is well served in terms of road, rail and air transport.
As the town sits beside the IC1, which itself gives access to the IP1 (A2) motorway, by car, the Algarve can be reached within 1 hour, Lisbon in approximately 1 ½ hours and the beautiful un spoilt beaches of the West Coast in approximately 50 minutes.
There are also regular national and local bus services as well as an inexpensive taxi service.
The railway station is approximately 7km away providing high speed links to both Lisbon and the Algarve.
Beja airport has recently opened and can be reached in 40 minutes, Faro airport in 1 hour and Lisbon airport in 1 hour and 15 minutes.
There are 2 new golf courses planned for this area, both within a 10 minute drive of the town.
A short 10 minute drive from Ourique is the lovely Monte da Rocha Lake. The lake itself and all the land surrounding it has recently been designated as a nature reserve and includes protected breeding areas for the many species of eagles and other magnificent birds of prey, found locally.
It is an area of outstanding natural beauty and will always remain so.
It is the perfect place for a days fishing, or bird watching or just a peaceful relaxing picnic, where a quiet corner all to yourself can be guaranteed.
Those lucky enough to already own a house by the lake, or who are considering purchasing land, on which permission to build is already in place, can have total confidence that no further development will ever be permitted.
"Thank you so much for all of the help and investigative work you have done on our behalf so far. The purchasing of land has been made so much smoother with the back up of your knowledge. This has been especially useful as our Portuguese at the moment leaves a lot to be desired!
We look forward to visiting you once again very soon but know we can rest assured as you are so much nearer to our site of construction than we are.
Thank you for your speedy attention as usual."
